A group of seventeen students along with a Trustee Mr. D. S.Prashant, administrator Ms. Sheina Costa and CSTI Incharge Ms. Sandra Da Costa were given a warm welcome by the staff and students of the Government High School, Morpirla. We were shown around the school, the staff-room, the principal’s cabin, laboratories and the class-rooms.
Our students enjoyed learning about the specimens on display in the laboratory and this practical learning was an advantage. Our students were served an organic breakfast consisting of bananas, sweet potatoes, sweets made of cucumber and tea.
A trek was arranged for our students: we trekked the villages of Morpirla, we witnessed the beauty of village life and connected instinctively with nature, there were hummingbirds, peacocks and frogs. We were guided to a natural spring and we enjoyed playing with water. A huge tamarind tree drew our attention and we tried removing some of its fruits, we also enjoyed playing with hay, we felt bouncy.
On our return from the trek, we were taken for an Exhibition based on local medicinal plants. The variety of trees and plants on display, got us curious to know about its benefits. The students of Morpirla also drew our attention to their cultural dances: Dabem, Fugdi and Khalsa Murtya and activities held during their local festivals.
Our students enjoyed playing games like tug-o-war and kick the ball with the students of Morpirla, this encouraged great bonding time between the students of both schools.
The day was filled with fun and a great learning experience. As said all good things must come to an end, so did this day end on a sweet happy note. The students returned after having a excellent lunch served in the most traditional style.
