The festival of Sao Joao is celebrated to commemorate the day in the name of St John De Baptista who baptised Jesus Christ.
The festival is marked to herald the monsoon season in the state of Goa every year in June.
Another very popular tradition is the wearing of the Kopel or flower crown. Men and women wear a Kopel on their heads.
PP Jrs. celebrated Sao Joao by adorning paper kopels and dancing to the beats of Sao Joao music.
