A workshop to inculcate reading in students was conducted for classes 4th and 5th on 27th January 2020 in the School Hall by a group of experts from Book Worm, the Children’s Library, Panjim, Goa.
The workshop began on an interactive note by Ms. Sujata Noronha who initiated, directed and advised the students on the value of owning a book, the joy of reading it and the whole new world that it unfolds.
The accessory of experts aroused in students an overwhelming curiosity of what was to come. They gave a stunning performance on why one should love books based on the story, “the girl who hated books”. There was an earnest message put-forth by the performers to read the book and to know more.
Furthermore, the students were put into groups and a variety of games and activities became a part of the reading-learning process. Some of the activities were Bingo, using flash cards; guess the title of the book using given clues; word games, where to find (use of dictionary); craft pieces, were used to identify with the characters in the given story book. The students were energized and livened up after the resourceful session had.
The feedback received from the students was positively encouraging as their satisfying brightened faces asked for more.
