Class X had their first online MBIT Personality test that was conducted on the 27 th of January
2022. The main purpose of this career guidance was to enable students to understand
themselves better as well as to help them decide their subjects in class XI. The students were
given an introduction to the concepts that were used in the MBIT Personality test in order to
help them understand the test better.
‘Personality is the characteristic patterns of thoughts, feelings, and behaviours that make a
person unique’. Many people find their type by taking a personality test, however it is also
possible to discover your personality type simply by studying your own behaviour. In order
to enable students to understand themselves better, the Myers-Briggs Personality Type
Indicator was administered to them.
The Myers-Briggs Personality Type Indicator is a self-report inventory designed to identify a
person's personality type, strengths, and preferences. The questionnaire was developed by
Isabel Myers and Katherine Briggs.
Based on the answers to the questions on the inventory, students are identified as having one
of 16 personality types. The goal of the MBTI is to allow respondents to understand their own
personalities including their likes, dislikes, strengths, weaknesses, possible career
preferences, and compatibility with other people.
No one personality type is "best" or "better" than another. It isn't a tool designed to look for
dysfunction or abnormality. Instead, its goal is simply to help you learn more about yourself.
Instead of looking at your score in comparison to the results of other people, the goal of the
instrument is to simply offer further information about your own unique personality.
Because the Myers-Briggs Personality Type Indicator is relatively easy to use, it has become
one of the most popular psychological instruments currently in use today. The Myers-Briggs
system describes a person’s personality through four personality scales namely:
A) Extraversion vs. Introversion
B) Sensing vs. Intuition
C) Thinking vs. Feeling
D) Judging vs. Perceiving
On completion of the questionnaire a scoring sheet is used to create a four letter code which
sums up the students personality type. Myers and Briggs were careful to point out that no one
type is any better than another; each has their own equally valuable gifts, strengths, and
contributions. It is also important to understand that while certain personality types tend to
gravitate naturally towards particular behaviour styles, a person's type cannot absolutely
predict their behaviour or what they will be good at. Personality type may predispose a
person to being a certain way, but the ultimate outcome depends on many more factors.
